4th December 1909.
sir,
Reee 6 DEC 09
I beg to acknowledge with thanks the confidential letter
from the Department of yesterday's date, enc losing a copy of
the despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong, and I am desired
by the Committee to express their regret on hearing of the
circumstances in which Miss C.B. McLeish left the service of
the Colony -
In reply to the Secretary of State's enquiry the Committee
have so far been unable to ascertain Miss McLeish's present
address, although they have applied to the Westminster Hospital
and to the permanent address which she gave on her application
form.
Enquiries are now being made of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha
as to whether Miss McLeish returned by the "Kanagwa Maru" of
that Line and should any information be forthcoming the Committee
hope to let the Department know.
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office, S.W.
I am,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
M. E. Dalrymple Hay
